Special Educational Needs & Disabilities
Scott-Broadwood is an inclusive school, welcoming children of all abilities and need. We have many areas of expertise amongst staff and have a SEND teaching assistant who specialises in supporting children with particular needs. Where appropriate, we call upon the expertise of outside agencies e.g. speech & language, educational psychologist, to deliver the best possible outcomes for all our children. In addition, we work closely with other schools in the Dorking Partnership to enable those pupils who are able, gifted or talented to be stretched in their area of strength.
We recognise that all children have different talents and abilities; we want the learning in each year to be continuous and progressive, building on prior knowledge and ensuring that progress can be made by every child. This may mean an individualised curriculum for some children and we work closely with our families to ensure our children are the best that they can be.
As a result of regular assessment, we are able to identify when a child may benefit from a tailored intervention to support them and move them on with our learning. Our SENCO is Mrs Amy Brown, should you wish to talk with her, please contact her via the school office.
